Keeping you in the know on what's what in printing substrates
Acrylic
We use cast acrylic only for the best results. It comes in clear, frosted, tinted, opaque, or mirrored options. Printing is razor-sharp on our UV flatbed, and we can add a white underlay to make colours pop on non-white pieces. Spot varnish creates glossy highlights or raised textures for extra dimension.
For higher end looks, we can engrave for a frosted look, cut and layer pieces together, or even inlay different colours for a beautiful, contrasting finish.
Acrylic has excellent optical clarity (about 92% light transmission on clear stock), is rigid, and can be polished on the edges for a high-end finish.
We typically use 3mm thicknesses (also 1 mm and 6 mm), with thicker sheets available by request. Our maximum single print area is 24″ × 36″ (60cm x 90cm), but even larger projects may be paneled together and still look fantastic.
Acrylic is an excellent choice for the outdoors due to its UV stability and is a great long-term choice. It can be mounted in various ways that depend on the situation.
Aluminum
We work with two aluminum materials:
White-Painted Aluminum Panels
Rigid panels coated with a smooth white finish. These are weatherproof, resistant to rust and fading, and provide an excellent surface for direct full-colour printing. They stay flat and stable even outdoors, making them a durable option for long-term projects.
Anodized Aluminum Cards (CR80 size)
Credit-card sized aluminum blanks with an anodized surface. The anodized layer makes them extremely durable, scratch-resistant, and available in a variety of colours. The smooth metal finish gives a premium look and feel while standing up to heavy use.
Corrugated Plastic
Corrugated plastic (Coroplast) is lightweight, sturdy, and budget-friendly. It’s the go-to choice for temporary to medium-term outdoor signage. We print directly with UV for bold colour, and the vertical flute design makes it compatible with H-stakes for lawn installation.
Standard thickness is 4 mm and signs hold up well outdoors for 6–24 months, depending on exposure. Straight cuts are the default, but we can arrange specialty contour cutting where needed.
Canvas
Canvas has a textured, fabric surface that gives prints a warm, artistic look. It’s the material most people associate with paintings and fine art reproductions, and it brings that same gallery feel to printed décor and custom pieces.
We currently print on 100% real cotton canvases that are already stretched over wooden frames. Because of the rigid UV inks we use, stretching a canvas after printing can cause cracks along the edges. By starting with pre-stretched blanks, we guarantee a smooth, durable result every time.
At this stage, our canvases are printed only on the front face, not as a gallery wrap where the image continues around the sides. The edges remain clean and neutral, ready to hang as-is or frame to suit your style. In the future, as we expand our materials and processes, we plan to add more canvas options, including gallery wraps.
Unlike synthetic “canvas” made from vinyl or polyester (common in mass-produced wall décor), cotton canvas has the authentic weave and depth that give artwork a natural, timeless character. With our process, you get the genuine look and feel of canvas without the compromises of plastic substitutes.
Foamboard
Foamboard is a smooth, lightweight material ideal for indoor displays. It prints beautifully with UV for a clean matte finish. Standard thickness is 3/16″ (5 mm), with thicker boards available.
It’s best for short- to mid-term use like presentations, retail displays, and mounted graphics. While not as tough as rigid plastics, foamboard is easy to handle and mount using easel backs, 3M tape, or frames.
Magnetic Sheeting
We use two types of magnetic sheeting:
Thick Magnetic Sheeting (30 mil / 0.030″)
This material has a matte white PVC face and holds its shape well. At the moment, we trim it into rectangles and squares up to 24″ wide.
Thin Magnetic Sheeting (10–20 mil)
Lighter and more flexible, this type can be cut into any custom shape, from simple rounded edges to detailed outlines.
Vinyl
Vinyl is a versatile, durable plastic film that’s become one of the most widely used materials in print and design. It’s flexible, waterproof, and resists tearing, which makes it perfect for both indoor and outdoor applications. Vinyl holds color exceptionally well, allowing for sharp, vibrant printing that stays true over time.
Available in a range of finishes—like gloss, matte, or clear—vinyl adapts to different looks and functions. It can be cut into virtually any shape, layered for effects, or combined with laminates for added protection. Because it conforms to flat or slightly curved surfaces, it’s used across industries for everything from signage and labels to displays and décor.
Vinyl’s mix of durability, print quality, and versatility makes it a go-to choice wherever long-lasting, professional results are needed.
Wood
We use real wood materials that add warmth and natural character. The grain gives every piece a unique look, and printing or engraving can be adjusted to either highlight the wood or create solid, full-colour coverage.
Wood Panels
Flat sheets that provide a smooth surface for printing. We can print in full colour, add a white base for brighter results, or let the natural grain show through.
Thin Wood Sheets
Lightweight stock that can be laser cut into custom shapes or engraved with fine detail. These are ideal for smaller projects that need precision and decorative detail.
